Gunter Spilhaus, founder of Adventure Junction is enthusiastic and ambitious and always looking to share his outdoor experiences, concepts and his ideas and spread a desire to add-venture to the life we live. Adventure Junction is designed to make it easy for adventurers all of kinds to easily plan and book their adventures, without hassle.
About Gunter Spilhaus After completing his education in South Africa in 1990, Gunter joined the South African Navy. In 4 years, he achieved the Rank of Petty Officer—qualifying as a deep diver, dive supervisor, small craft skipper and dive instructor. His enthusiasm of the outdoor and adventure industry began. He was awarded the Gold Defense Force colors for Yachting; certified as a Level 2 Wilderness River Guide and Safety Kayaker; and had assisted with the operations of a commercial river operation.
He continued his adventure lifestyle by cycling through Europe and the UK; leading a canoeing expedition to Canada; and traveling the perimeter of the US by train. Gunter then ran logistics and support for a National U. S. Champion Adventure Racing team ultimately supporting the team in New Zealand race where he met his lovely wife Laura. He then assisted with logistics for an adventure sport television production team and worked as a stunt rigger and stunt double on national and international film productions shot in South Africa.
Gunter continues his adventure career and lifestyle organizing corporate team building sessions as well as guided and custom tours. Gunter and Laura have two children, Hannah and Abigail. He is pictured apple-picking with his daughter Hannah near their home in the Hudson Valley region of New York.
